Access Statement

There is plenty of free off street parking on level concrete areas and Tor View Barn is accessed by slightly sloping concrete paths. Wheel chair users are welcome to use the main entrance or they can access the disabled friendly bedroom directly from the south facing garden, via a level concrete path. There are double opening doors into the disabled friendly bedroom and there is a wooden threshold, which is 5 cm high.

COACHES. Small coaches can access Tor View. Please ensure your vehicle is under 10.6 meters long (35 ft) 2.4 meters wide (7ft 10) and 3.6 meters high (11 ft 9).

Ground Floor: All six ensuite bedrooms are on the ground floor. The hallway is tiled throughout and the bedroom floors are natural wood. There are bedside mats but these can easily be moved under the bed if not required. The bathrooms are tiled throughout. The disabled friendly bedroom has a wet room with grab rails beside the toilet and shower. The wash basin is at a suitable height for wheel chair users and the taps are easily pushed on or off. If the wheel chair user needs two carers the toilet would not be suitable as there is a wall with grab rail on the left hand side. The right hand grab rail can be put into an up position to allow a career to stand to one side. The beds are approximately 60cm to the top of the mattress and there is plenty of space under the bed if a hoist is required.

The remaining five bedrooms have walk in showers with a 30cm step into the cubicle. The bedrooms vary in size but are all equipped with remote control Television/DVD players & hairdryers.

There is a separate bathroom also on the ground floor which has tiling on the floor and tiles up the walls to window height. There is a grab rail beside the toilet and there are grab rails on the walls beside and at the end of the bath. A bathroom seat for the wet room shower is available on request

Upper floor: There are 14 wooden steps taking you up to the first floor, with a level plateau half way up. If you are unable to walk up the stairs we have a Stannier chair lift, but you must be able to transfer from your wheelchair onto the lift. Upstairs we provide our own wheel chair.

The floor upstairs is veneer throughout. There are two toilets on the upper floor, one with grab rails on either side. One rail can be raised to enable a carer to stand to one side.

We have a spacious lounge with comfortable settees and tub chairs, coffee and higher circular tables, perfect for playing board games. The large flatscreen television with surround sound  has a dvd/CD player.  Each of the bedrooms also have an inbuilt DVD player in the flat screen televisions and both the barn and cottage have extensive free DVD libraries

Throughout the barn there are very sensitive smoke detectors with loud audible claxons. We have a fire safety risk assessment and have been inspected by the local fire brigade.

Emergency lighting is fitted to all public areas and there is emergency lighting in case of any power cuts.
